New Music School and GEMS World Academy Chicago have been partners in music education since GEMS opened.
NMS aims to provide all students (3+ and up) with a comprehensive conservatory based music education program through private individual lessons and performance classes on-site at GEMS World Academy.
New Music School’s mission is to advance excellence in music education. Through world-class faculty, comprehensive artistic exposure and pioneering approaches to the learning process, our students develop their talents for a life-time of musical achievement.
The following instruments are available for study privately at GEMS. For Students who are involved in the 5 day aftercare program.

ABOUT NMS
Mentored by Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians, renowned collegiate professors, and other world-class faculty, our students are exposed to unconstrained musical exploration in a fun and engaging atmosphere. This Conservatory Program utilizes a robust five-level curriculum.
Our program challenges and grows with students; whether they are picking up an instrument for the first time or are looking to enter the most prestigious music conservatories in the world. We like to say we are capable of training, developing and managing professionally the new generation of performance artists.
Lessons and group instruction can be taught in classical, popular, rock, and musical theatre genres. Additionally, both private and chamber size music groups are available for instruction. New Music School has been recognized by Chicago Magazine as Best in Chicago for students under 18 and Best in Voice by CBS News. Additionally, recently faculty and former students of NMS have won a Grammy award and have been Grammy nominated.

WHEN DO LESSONS OCCUR?
Lessons will begin October 3, 2022. Lessons will be after school starting at 245 until 6PM. For the 2022 academic year, students do not need to enroll in after care to take private lessons after school. However, parents are responsible for their students if they choose to do lessons at GEMS after school.
In addition, you can (as a GEMS family) sign up with lessons at our convenient location at 900 N Michigan Ave (the Bloomingdales Building). We offer a variety of instruments and voice. Please let us know you are a GEMS family when signing up.
